Greater Dayton Paralegal Association, Inc. Mission Statement:

The Greater Dayton Paralegal Association, Inc. is an Ohio non-profit organization dedicated to the professional development of its members and the paralegal profession through education, community involvement, and professional conduct in the Greater Dayton area.

The Greater Dayton Paralegal Association, Inc. (GDPA) was formed in 1984, and incorporated in 1989, as a professional, non-profit organization to serve and promote the interests of paralegals, the legal community and the public.

GDPA provides continuing legal education, job placement opportunities, information about local, state, and national issues and promotes a high degree of professional standards and ethics among its members.

The purpose of GDPA is to establish good fellowship among association members and members of the legal community; to encourage a higher level of ethical and professional attainment; to further education and training among members of the profession; and to cooperate and foster working relationships with local bar associations and other professional organizations.

Our Goals and Objectives:
  • To provide a forum for the exchange of information for members;
  • To educate members and inform attorneys and students as to paralegal uses and roles;
  • Act as a liaison between bar associations and the paralegal community; and
  • To maintain a high level of professional standards and ethics among its members and within the legal community.

Why become a Member? GDPA provides the opportunity to network with other paralegals through meetings and special events that include guest speakers on a variety of subjects, as well as the bi-monthly publication of its newsletter, The Paralegal News. Additionally, members of GDPA are automatically members of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations, Inc. (NFPA), which allows access to information and benefits on a national level. Other benefits of membership include: access to GDPA’s Job Bank listings; salary survey information; continuing legal education; a membership directory; and information on professional trends. Membership Information The following categories of membership are offered by the GDPA:

ACTIVE MEMBER - Any person who is employed as a paralegal either full-time or part-time. All Active Members shall have the right to vote and hold elective office.

ASSOCIATE MEMBER - Any person who is a graduate of a paralegal training program, not currently employed as a paralegal or who is a retired former voting member. Associate Members shall have all the privileges of the Association except they shall not have the right to vote or hold elective office.

STUDENT MEMBER - Any person enrolled in a formal paralegal training program not currently employed as a paralegal or a student presently participating in an internship program. Student Members shall have all the privileges of the Association except they shall not have the right to vote or hold elective office.

SUSTAINING MEMBER - Any person, partnership, organization, or other entity interested in supporting the Association. Sustaining Members shall not have the right to vote or hold elective office.
